Dr. Douglas Kriner, a Boston University political scientist, shared his considerable knowledge about the electoral process at an all-school lecture October 10, focusing on two main questions: how did Donald Trump defeat sixteen primary opponents, and with what level of confidence can we predict the outcome of November's general election? continued

Groton is going head-to-head against St. Mark's this year in a competition to encourage Groton Fund giving participation.

The Groton vs. St. Mark's Young Alumni Participation Challenge, for forms from 2006 to 2016, will take place from November 9 through halftime of the football game on November 12. The winner will be announced, live, at the end of the game.

What is at stake? Zebra pride! The losing school's headmaster will have to wear the winning school's hat for a video and photo opp. This year's game will be at St. Mark's, so wouldn't it be great to have the St. Mark's head of school at St. Mark's in a Groton hat?

Groton will have a fan tent on site at the game for anyone who can join us there, so please consider attending and spreading the word. In the meantime, make a note to visit on November 9. Go Zebras! Beat St. Mark's!

Where Are They Now?

This feature honors the powerful and formative impact that Groton teachers have on the student experience.

Bishop Ann Tottenham
First Female Dean of Students

What are you doing now?

I am happily retired and, mostly, doing what I want to do. I spend time with friends; I belong to a book club; I take courses with a "lifelong learning" program; I preach and speak from time to time. The answer to this question is probably, "Not a great deal," though the days and years fly pleasantly by.

What memorable highlights would you like to share from your years since leaving Groton?

Fourteen years as head of The Bishop Strachan School, a day/boarding school for girls in Toronto. During this time, I was ordained priest in the Anglican Church of Canada. Two years as rector of a country parish. My election as the second woman bishop in Canada and the tenth in the worldwide Anglican (Episcopal) Communion. Five years ago suffering heart failure, with the changes of perspective and priorities which come with a near-death experience. continued
