Watch here as Gunnery students fill you in on Gunnery holiday activities and share their own personal holiday memories.

The Gunnery kicked off the holiday season with local friends at its annual town party in mid-November. Head of School, Susan G. Graham, Gunnery administrators, and faculty members were on hand to welcome the Washingtonians for an evening of celebration, acknowledgements, and holiday cheer. The evening's highlights included the honoring of a town institution, Steep Rock Association and a tribute to Washingtonian, Kirsten Peckerman whose philanthropy and community service has greatly benefitted both institutions.

Following Mr. Gunn's tradition of promoting visual and performing arts in The Gunnery curriculum, Susie Graham elevated the arts at The Gunnery to a new level during her tenure. Her commitment to the Arts is highlighted by the building of the Emerson Performing Arts Center and the Woodward Arts Studios. The program is ever growing with 70% of the student body enrolled in an art or music class. Each week, 65 students take private music or voice lessons for credit compared to eight students just ten years ago.
We are asking Gunnery artists and collectors to donate artwork to help take The Gunnery Arts to the next level.

Student-athlete Peter "PJ" Higgins scored a personal home run with the signing of a letter of intent to play Division I Baseball at Old Dominion University. Jeffrey Trundy, coach of The Gunnery's varsity baseball team, described PJ as "intense and focused. He is a very good defensive player and brings different skills to a team."
PJ, a middle in-fielder, arrived at The Gunnery in September 2011 as a post graduate.

The Girls' varsity soccer team had a wonderful season, winning games against a number of schools including Ethel Walker and Canterbury. "I want our players to leave feeling they had a sense of belonging to the team, a sense of personal achievement, and the realization that they made progress," said Head Coach Alisa Croft. "We have a lot of skilled players who are also very fun people," said Taylor Dube '12. "I have learned a lot from Coach Croft and Coach Trundy. You can tell they care about you. I want to give to other kids what they gave me."

Over the last few weeks, Head of School, Susan G. Graham, administrators, trustees, and faculty have greeted numerous alumni and parents at receptions in New York City, New Jersey, and Boston. Parents, current and past, and alumni from the 40s to the 00s attended these special events that honored Mrs. Graham's twenty years with the school. "I'm very fond of Susie," said Leo D. Bretter '52 & P'88, Trustee Emeritus. "She has done a phenomenal job of turning around a school with great roots and great tradition. She is strong-willed and compassionate."

We're finally moving into storytelling; that was the original idea of this segment:
1) Russ Elgin (faculty): That's Art Lobdell (left) and Nathan Miller. Not sure what they called themselves, though it may have still been the "Gunnery Gluttons." ( They functioned as an evening snack bar.) 2) Susie (Black) Beck '85: Shoot! This picture is right on the tip of my tongue.
