With the passage of the Tax Recovery Act of 2010, Congress re–authorized the provision that allows donors 70 ½ or older to make tax–free charitable gifts from their IRA accounts in 2011, without incurring income tax on the withdrawal. Donors can make charitable gifts from IRAs until December 31, 2011 and have them count as a minimum required distribution for the year. For more information, please click here.

Generous Support of Digital Mobile Mammography Reflects High Regard for Cancer Program

Generous Support of Digital Mobile Mammography Reflects High Regard for Cancer Program With high praise for the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center and the leadership of its director, Andrew Salner, M.D., the Harry E. Goldfarb Family Foundation has pledged $100,000 to support the upgrade of its mobile mammography program to digital technology.

The upgrade will allow Hartford Hospital to reach twice as many women in the region with this life–saving screening. The Hospital seeks to raise $1.2 million to make the upgrade to the digital technology possible. more

Hospital Ranks First in the Region Hartford Hospital has been ranked No. 1 in the Hartford area in U.S. News & World Report's first–ever Best Hospitals Metro Area rankings. The new rankings recognize 622 hospitals in or near major cities with a record of high performance in key medical specialties.

Hartford HealthCare Names Senior VP of Human Resources

Tracy Church Tracy Church has been appointed senior vice president of Human Resources for Hartford HealthCare. She brings more than 25 years of healthcare industry experience, especially in employee and labor relations, compensation and benefits, workforce planning, rewards and recognition, strategic planning, and learning and organizational development.

Rx for Fun – And They're Off

Rx for Fun - And They're Off The Hartford Hospital Auxiliary had "just what the doctor ordered" last month – a Kentucky Derby Party, complete with Derby fare and Derby wear – including hats – and mint juleps.

Proceeds from the event, held at Damon's Tavern in Hartford, benefited numerous programs that the Auxiliary supports and funds at Hartford Hospital. This was their second annual "Rx for Fun" event, but the first tied to the Kentucky Derby. more
