The 19th annual Black & Red will be held at the Bushnell Theatre in Hartford on January 16, 2010, to benefit Hartford Hospital and Cardiac Surgery. The event will run from 6 p.m. to Midnight, including a performance by Vox Audio, a theatrical powerhouse of vocal acrobatics where the human voice is every instrument in the band!

Hospital Television Special to be Re-aired on
Saturday, November 28


Hospital Television Special For viewers who missed it the first time, Hartford Hospital alerts you to a repeat showing of our television special, "Advancing Medicine: Stories of Hope and Healing." This unique half-hour program is the first in a four-part series that will be spaced out over the next year in partnership with WFSB Channel 3.

The first program in the series is titled "Cancer Care: Turning Fear into Hope," which will air Saturday, November 28, at 2:30 p.m. on WFSB, Channel 3. more




UConn Ends Pursuit of Partnership;
HHC, Aetna Reach Agreement


As you may know, the University of Connecticut announced that it is no longer pursuing the proposed partnership with Hartford Hospital. While disappointing, the decision was not unexpected given the current economic realities. As we move ahead, we look forward to continuing to work closely with their School of Medicine to help make it a top-tier institution. more




Dr. Elizabeth Brady Honored by
Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame


Elizabeth Brady Elizabeth Brady, M.D., Breast Surgeon with the Connecticut Surgical Group, has been recognized among "A New Century of Women in Healthcare" by the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame.

Dr. Brady was recognized at the 16th annual induction ceremony for the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame, which honored women in health care. Those recognized are "remarkable women who have made significant contributions to the care and well being of Connecticut residents," according to the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame. more

A Compassionate Team - A Lasting Tribute

A year ago last month, Dan Hunter was brought to Hartford Hospital following a motorcycle accident in which he sustained severe trauma. He was placed in the neurotrauma intensive care unit, in the care of Dr. Joe Portoreiko and nurse Patty Veronneau.

What followed is the story of a close-knit family from Meriden that experienced a most painful tragedy - losing a loving husband and father. But out of that tragedy grew relationships rooted in dignity, respect, compassion, and a spirit of giving. more
