The 4th annual Pink Flamingo Event will be held Thursday, October 1, 2009, at the Pond House Café in West Hartford from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature fine wines and festive food as well as a silent auction. Funds raised will benefit the Partnership for Breast Care and "Take the Time" Mobile Mammography at Hartford Hospital. State Budget Impacts Hospitals, LIFE STAR

State Budget
Thanks to a groundswell of public support, widespread media coverage and intensive lobbying, Hartford Hospital's LIFE STAR air ambulance program retained its state funding in the recently passed Connecticut biennial budget.

Funding for LIFE STAR was preserved at $1.388 million per year in the two-year budget, which will allow for both helicopters to continue serving all the residents of Connecticut. more

Parents' Letter Underscores LIFE STAR Contribution in Turning Potential Tragedy into 'Incredible Relief'

Last month, a Connecticut teenager who spent hours digging a hole on a Rhode Island beach was buried up to his lips when the walls of the eight-foot-deep hole collapsed around him. After unsuccessfully trying to dig the boy free, his family called for help. Rescue workers called Hartford Hospital's LIFE STAR helicopter even before arriving on the scene. As reflected in a letter to LIFE STAR's crew, the family is glad they did. more

Hospital Named 2009 Most Wired and Most Wireless

Most Wired Hartford Hospital has been named one of the nation's 100 Most Wired hospitals for the third year in a row and one of the nation's top 25 Most Wireless Hospitals, according to Hospitals & Health Networks magazine, the journal of the American Hospital Association.

Most Wired hospitals show better outcomes in patient satisfaction, risk-adjusted mortality rates and other key quality measures. more

Richard G. Stys

Richard G. Stys has joined Hartford Healthcare Corporation as Vice President and Treasurer. In this capacity, he will oversee the financial management for Hartford Healthcare, ensuring sound balance and structure of the organization's assets and liabilities. more
