Renowned Surgeon Named New Director of Transplantation
At Westchester Medical Center, Dr. Sheiner is the director of liver transplant and hepatobiliary (liver, gall bladder and bile ducts) surgery and vice chair of the Department of Surgery. Prior to that, she was a physician for the Liver Transplant Division at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and clinical associate of the liver transplant program at Toronto General Hospital.
Dr. Sheiner is a renowned liver surgeon; she has directed and participated in a number of clinical trials and research studies, and has trained several physicians who moved on to head transplant programs at Georgetown University Hospital, Mount Sinai Medical Center and the Oklahoma Transplant Institute.
She attended McGill Medical School in Montreal and has a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Her postgraduate training includes a surgical residency at S.U.N.Y Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn and an exchange residency at Landeskrankenhaus in Salzburg, Austria.
